We focus our instructional efforts on undergraduate and graduate Â鶹´«Ã½.
We give information literacy instruction at all levels from walk-in building tours and and introduction to library services to EIU foundations classes, up to providing specialized subject-specific guidance to graduate seminars and research methods classes in the disciplines.
Library instruction encompasses a wide range of activities and includes both the training of a particular skillset, as well as the more nuanced teaching of critical thinking about how information is created, evaluated and consumed. Since each student in each class comes with a unique set of abilities, experiences and information needs, effective information literacy instruction necessarily emerges out of the immediate context rather than a static set exercises.

Research & Creative Interests
I have focused my library career on reference and research services to the university community. My research interests include the information seeking behavior of university Â鶹´«Ã½ and faculty, usability of Web-based search interfaces, information classification, and critical information literacy. I am also interested in Scholarly Communication, Open Access to research, Open Educational Resources (OER), Library impact assessment, and data management services.
