The pre-licensure nursing program at EIU is a four-year on-campus program that prepares graduates to take the national licensure exam to become a registered nurse. Students complete prerequisite coursework prior to applying to the nursing program. Once admitted to the program in the sophomore year Â鶹´«Ã½ begin the laboratory and clinical rotations. The multifunctional simulation laboratory at EIU allows Â鶹´«Ã½ to practice skills in a safe environment and better prepares them for clinical rotations in local hospitals and health care organizations.
The nursing program at EIU has a concept-base curriculum that allows Â鶹´«Ã½ to build on previous knowledge every semester and care for patients of all ages. Students are taught by experienced and dedicated nursing faculty that put Â鶹´«Ã½ first. In addition, Â鶹´«Ã½ learn in a cohort and complete the program together. This is an advantage because the Â鶹´«Ã½ have study partners and support from day one.
