Absolutely. However, quick questions often lead to lengthy conversations with reference to documents and/or websites. Since our departmental undergraduate advisors are available year-round, please make an effort to meet by appointment in the office for the most accurate and comprehensive exchange of information. Drop-in appointments may be available during some periods of the semester.

Students assigned to advisors in the Department of Teaching, Learning, & Foundations may begin meeting for registration advisement around midterm to prepare for the following semester.
All ELE, MLE, CTE and SED upper division professional courses must be waitlisted in the department. Forms will be provided during your advising appointment.
Bring a copy of the long-range plan and updated checklist your advisor previously provided, and a list of the courses you plan to add to your schedule. Review your online degree audit (PAWS-Degree Works) and be aware of the remaining requirements/courses for your program. The online degree audit will also show which requirements for University Admission to Teacher Education have been documented, and which requirements remain, as steps for progression into professional coursework.
Announcements and personal messages from university offices, instructors, and advisors will be sent to your EIU email (panthermail) account. It is very important for Â鶹´«Ã½ to monitor this account on a daily basis. If you are having trouble with your panthermail account, contact 217-581-HELP for assistance.
Your advisor will assist you with understanding your catalog and curriculum requirements by using a checklist. Feel free to ask your advisor for an updated copy during your registration advisement appointment. Printable blank copies are available here. Students should become familiar with the online degree audit available through their PAWS account. Advisors can teach you how to use this tool as well.
All Â鶹´«Ã½ with a teacher certification major must receive a grade of "C" or better in all courses, regardless where they are taken, used toward graduation including general education, professional education, major and minor courses, all university required courses, and electives. Furthermore, any course used for the purpose of adding endorsements to a teaching certificate must be completed with a grade of "C" or better.
Schedule Planner is available on PAWS to help Â鶹´«Ã½ find class times that best fit into their busy schedules. Utilizing this system will allow Â鶹´«Ã½ to schedule classes around work or other events such as practice. To find Schedule Planner, sign into PAWS, click on the Student menu, go to the Registration menu and look for the Schedule Planner link at the bottom of the items listed. For more information on using this tool, please go to www.eiu.edu/scheduleplanner.
*Please remember that choosing courses using Schedule Planner does not add them to your schedule, you must register for them separately.
Registration dates are published by the Office of the Registrar (Registration and Records).
